Molecular Insight Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company and a pioneer in the emerging field of molecular medicine. The Company is focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of targeted radiotherapeutics and molecular imaging pharmaceuticals for use in oncology that are intended to improve the lives of patients through timely and accurate detection, improved treatment, and effective monitoring of therapeutic response and disease progression. Summary
Reporting to the CFO/CBO the individual in this position will be responsible for managing the accounting and finance functions, and staff. The individual will also have responsibility for all financial planning, analysis, research grants and awards, and budgeting activities. The individual will manage the Senior Accountant and Purchasing functions and oversee the Treasury, Accounts Payable, Payroll and Stock Plan Administration functions of the company. The individual must have experience in biotech and be a CPA.
Specific Responsibilities:

Oversee corporate accounting, forecasting, and planning

Preparing an annual operating budget and capital investment buildup

Manage the Senior Accountant and oversee the Treasury, Accounts Payable, Payroll and Stock Plan Administration functions

Provide analysis of monthly and quarterly results of operations and provide “budget-to-actual” variance analysis

Work closely with departments to analyze and forecast operating expenses

Responsibility for Treasury function, including cash management and forecasting

Establish accounting and finance practices and procedures, and ensure adequate systems and controls are in place to support the growth of the business

Perform analysis for individual projects such as acquisitions, etc.

Lead the development, interpretation, and reporting of operating financial information, ensure all financial reporting and compliance obligations are fulfilled timely and accurately

Maintain knowledge of current accounting and reporting requirements established by the AICPA, FASB, the SEC and other governmental agencies; analyze the implications of new requirements for our firm and industry, and help determine an appropriate approach for implementation

Develop strong relationships with outside auditors, tax accountants and counsel

Personally craft and deliver presentations to Management of financial information that are clear, to the point and insightful

Responsible for risk management and insurance

Oversee all general accounting and control activities, including G/L accounting for US, month-end close, and account reconciliation

Coordinate and act as support liaison for year-end audit and tax returns

Ensure a Sarbanes-Oxley-like compliant environment
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor Degree and 5+ years of proven experience in biotech industry, preferably with both private and public companies. Experience in Public Accounting preferred.

The individual must be a CPA

Strong presence, proactive style and clear decision making ability

Proven experience working in and helping build high performance teams

Commitment to develop and manage to budgets

Proficient in SEC regulations, FASB rules, and internal and external reporting

Persuasion, facilitation, motivation, and the ability to coach individuals and teams

Knowledge of automated systems (e.g. Great Plains & Equity Stock Option Software), expert Microsoft Excel skills a must

Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) experience is a plus
